I’ve been given the opportunity of a lifetime to help others. 

Like many of you, I have witnessed first hand the debilitating effects that leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease and myeloma can have on those who suffer from these blood cancers, and on the family and friends who care for and nurture their loved ones. 

Every 10 minutes someone dies from one of these blood cancers. Every 3 minutes someone new is diagnosed.

From April 6 through June 16, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will hold a nationwide Man/Woman of the Year fundraising event. I’m honored to have been nominated for this year’s Woman of the Year because of my lifelong commitment to helping those in need. My fundraising relationship with LLS began in 1996, when I ran the Mayor’s Midnight Sun Marathon in Alaska to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of my grandmother who had lymphoma. My husband is currently in remission from lymphoma which inspires my continued fundraising efforts to help STOMP OUT blood cancers.

Last year I was diagnosed with cancer and this year I’m cancer free. In gratitude of my good health, I am committed to the advancement of cancer research not only to find a cure but to educate families and patients, help families with co pays and many other avenues of support while they fight their battles with blood cancers. 

Today I’m personally reaching out to my extended Royal Flush Havanese Family. We are in the team building process for this massive fundraising event which will take place between April 6 and June 16.
