The New Year is right around the corner! How are you preparing?
- Define your goals. This may be harder than you think.…
- Look at the big picture. Envision where you want to be next year, the year after or five years from now….
- Look at the small picture and define the steps you need to get to your big goals by defining SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time bound).
- Make it happen!
It always good to write down your goals by quarters and reflect on them as the year goes on. The greatest feeling is crossing off a goal you wanted to achieve!!
Change Your Thinking
Don’t let yourself think, “What if I fail?” Instead, think about how great it would be if you succeed! Like Dr. Joe Vitale said, “A goal should scare you a little and excite you a lot.”
Identify barriers, or anything else that may stop you from achieving your goals. Adjust your plans accordingly, but don’t change your goal unless you have to. In other words, “be stubborn about your goals, but be flexible about your methods.”
Get an accountability partner (or two, or more). Checking in with someone on a regular basis will help you stay accountable for making progress on your goals. You will want to give your accountability partner a good report, which will motivate you to continually make progress.
BE AN OPTIMIST!
